PRS is a new generation of standard guitar brands, rivaling Fender and Gibson.
The beautiful guitars they produce are known for being used by top musicians around the world, including Carlos Santana, John Mayer, Orianthi Panagaris, DAITA, and PABLO.
This is the Swamp Ash Special, manufactured in the USA.
This model was previously produced in the USA and sadly discontinued, but
was revived in the SE series in 2023, and then in 2025 as the US line's Swamp Ash Special.
The body is made of undulating swamp ash, a wood that has been used since the early days of solid-state guitars.
The top features a beautiful violin curve.
The combination of the ash grain and arched top gives it a unique appeal that's different from maple-top models.
The neck is maple, and the fingerboard is rosewood.
Finished with a satin finish, rare for PRS, it offers a smooth feel and excellent position shifting.
This guitar also features a bolt-on joint, rare for PRS.
Compared to models with a set neck joint, it features a distinctly clearer attack.
The neck shape is the traditional Pattern Regular.
Pickups include 58/15 LT pickups in the neck and bridge positions, and a PRS Narrowfield pickup in the middle position.
The 58/15 LT pickup is designed to replicate the humbucker sound of the late '50s, producing a clear, warm sound.
The PRS Narrowfield pickup is a mini-humbucker-sized version of the acclaimed PRS 57/08 pickup.
While maintaining the low noise inherent to humbucking pickups, it produces a brighter tone than a standard humbucker.
Controls include a 5-way blade switch and an independent coil tap switch.
This allows for a wide variety of tones, seemingly unimaginable from a single guitar.
The control layout differs from the standard 5-way setup, demonstrating the designer's commitment to quality.
The tuning machines are PRS Phase III Locking Tuners, and the tuning pegs feature the latest wing buttons.
This allows for a lighter headstock and improved sustain.
The bridge is a PRS-designed synchronized tremolo bridge.
This patented bridge, unique to PRS, is characterized by smooth arm movements and excellent tuning stability.
This high-quality instrument offers an excellent balance of playability, looks, and sound.
