HEX Guitars is a brand based in South Korea that specializes in products spanning the entry-level to mid-range price points.

They own their own factory in Indonesia, where the president himself resides to ensure high-level quality control.

Because the president personally gets involved on-site, rather than relying on other factories, they produce guitars of unexpectedly high quality for their price point.

This is their newly launched headless style series.

The N700 is the top-tier model featuring premium specifications: a flame maple body, custom tremolo bridge, FISHMAN pickups, ebony fingerboard, and laminated neck.

The refined body shape utilizes flame maple and mahogany.
Two rubber feet are attached to the body end, allowing stable placement even without a guitar stand.

The neck features a laminated design combining Roasted Maple and Walnut.

Roasted wood, also known as Thermo wood, is a new material popularized by Japan's Sago New Material Guitars.
Originally developed in Finland as wood for sauna construction.

High-temperature processing evaporates moisture and oils within the wood, resulting in exceptional stability even in high-humidity environments.
Sound-wise, it imparts a more refined and rich tone.

Shaping the neck by laminating multiple woods reduces lateral imbalance, yielding high stability and durability.

The fingerboard uses Ebony, finished with a 12-16 inch compound radius.
A compound radius features a rounder shape in the lower positions and a flatter shape in the higher positions.

Generally, a rounder fingerboard radius improves playability but can cause muffled notes in the higher positions.
The compound radius solves this issue.

This technology is adopted by high-end brands like Suhr Guitars and Tom Anderson.

The frets are made of stainless steel.
Stainless steel is characterized by its lack of tarnish and high hardness.

Stainless steel frets maintain their shine indefinitely and are extremely resistant to wear, making them popular in high-end guitar brands in recent years.

The neck shape is slim and features a neutral C-shape.

It is equipped with two FISHMAN Fluence Modern Humbuckers.
These pickups are very expensive items, selling individually for over ¥40,000.

They feature a unique coil-less design, eliminating any potential coil-related noise or electrical issues.

This results in unbelievably low noise, offering performance comparable to or even surpassing EMG pickups.

Sound-wise, they deliver astonishingly fast response, moderate compression feel, and a rich, full low end.

They produce a thick tone from low to high frets, with a fresh, vibrant harmonic character that feels somewhat atypical for active pickups.

Additionally, this pickup features a character-switching function called VOICE 1 and 2.
Pulling up the volume knob activates VOICE 2, transforming the neck pickup into a clearer, more trebly tone, while the bridge pickup shifts to a slightly warmer sound with enhanced midrange thickness.

Furthermore, pulling up the tone knob enables coil tapping, allowing you to create sounds reminiscent of a Stratocaster or Telecaster.

It's perfect for guitarists seeking lower noise than EMGs but desiring the responsive feel of passive pickups, along with flexible tone shaping.

The balance in hand is excellent. Even players accustomed to Fender or Gibson guitars will likely find the HEX N comfortable to play.

No special headless strings are required; standard guitar strings (like those for Stratocasters or Les Pauls) are compatible.

It delivers the clean, crisp sound characteristic of a headless design, yet retains rich musical harmonics and substantial low end.

The exceptionally high quality of the fundamental neck construction ensures excellent playability. It's difficult to assert that it falls short when compared to instruments priced around ¥200,000.

Overall, this is a superb product boasting high quality in appearance, playability, and sound.

It's certainly a great choice for anyone wanting to try a headless guitar, and it's definitely not a bad option as a first guitar either.

As an aside, I encountered them at the 2024 Sound Messe in Osaka.
Initially, I misheard the price as $6,000 USD and thought, “High quality, but also high price,” so I put the deal on hold.

Later, I realized I'd misheard and it was actually $600, so I contacted them immediately. It made perfect sense—what felt reasonable at $6000 was actually $600.

A few days later, we held another meeting in Seoul and agreed that GIB and TONIQ would handle HEX's distribution in the Japanese market.

Since then, we've held frequent meetings with them and have finally reached this launch.

The truss rod and neck condition are good.
