Larrivee was founded in Toronto, Canada, and is now a brand based in the United States that crafts high-quality guitars.
It is favored by a wide range of artists both in Japan and abroad, including Bruce Cockburn, Tommy Emmanuel, and Kazutoshi Sakurai.
Featuring a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany sides and back, this is a fully solid-wood construction.
It delivers the solid low end characteristic of a Dreadnought size, while its excellent balance makes it extremely easy to play, whether strumming or fingerstyle.
Larrivee’s unique symmetrical bracing structure ensures a well-balanced sound where every string resonates evenly.
The low end isn’t overly dominant, and the midrange comes through clearly, making this model an excellent choice for singer-songwriters.
Features such as herringbone-style purfling, an ebony fingerboard, bone nut and saddle, and open-back tuners give it a charming vintage-style aesthetic.
This model is highly recommended for those looking for a guitar they can keep for years, or for those seeking a mahogany Dreadnought with a slightly different character than a Martin.
Approximately 70% of the frets remain.
The truss rod is on the stiff side, but it has been confirmed to move about 90 degrees.
The neck shows signs of bowing.
There is very slight lifting of the top from the body; the current string action ranges from 2.2 mm on the 6th string to 1.15 mm on the 1st string, and the guitar plays without issue.
The body and finish show overall scratches and dents. There are sticker marks on the body side near the 1st string and on the body surface, and there is some cracking in the finish on the body surface.
The electronics are in good condition.
No obvious modifications were found.
