Description & Condition

PRS is a brand that has firmly established itself as a standard of the new era, alongside Fender and Gibson.

The beautiful guitars they manufacture are known to be favored by world-class musicians such as Carlos Santana, John Mayer, Orianthi Panagaris, DAITA, and PABLO.

This Silver Sky model is the signature model of John Mayer, one of the three greatest guitarists of our time.

John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith, founder of PRS Guitars, engaged in direct discussions, and after two
years of repeated research and development, this model was brought to market.

While its overall appearance is the traditional double-cutaway design that comes to mind for everyone, it is packed with PRS’s signature engineering approach and unique ideas throughout.

The body is made of alder, the neck of maple, and the fingerboard of rosewood.

All of these are traditional woods that have been indispensable throughout the history of the electric guitar

The neck shape is the 635JM-R.

This unique neck shape was developed after meticulous research into the vintage guitars from 1963–64—models cherished by John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith—and numerous tests.

The fingerboard radius is 7.25, which is closer to Fender’s specifications than the SE model and offers a vintage guitar-like feel.

The scale length is the traditional 25.5 inches.

This scale is slightly longer than PRS’s standard 25-inch scale.

The headstock is based on PRS’s proprietary design but has been modified to a reverse-head configuration.

This is a Silver Sky-exclusive design tailored to John Mayer’s playing style.

The tuning machines are vintage-style Klusons, but the locking pegs are mounted asymmetrically on the left and right sides.

The bridge features an original 6-point tremolo unit.

Additionally, in accordance with John Mayer’s specifications, the bridge is shipped in a fixed-in-place configuration.

While it does not support a tremolo arm, it transmits string vibration directly to the body, producing a tighter sound compared to a floating setup.

The pickups are the 635JM, exclusive to the Silver Sky.

These single-coil pickups are modeled after the sound of vintage guitars from 1963–64.

It offers a well-balanced sound that retains the brilliance of a single-coil pickup without the treble becoming too harsh.

This doesn’t mean the brightness is compromised; rather, by cutting out unnecessary frequency bands, it gives the impression of a traditional single-coil sound that’s been refined for a more modern sound.

The hardware, such as the knobs and jack plate, features PRS’s proprietary designs.
It’s appealing how a touch of individuality shines through the traditional look.

As a side note, it’s said that even if John Mayer were to forget his instrument, he could purchase one at a store and use it on stage right away—that’s how high the quality is.

This is a masterpiece that combines the feel of a vintage guitar with the exceptional playability unique to PRS.

If you’re looking for a high-quality, practical single-coil guitar, we highly recommend giving this one a try.

TONIQ’s craftsmen will deliver it to you after a rigorous inspection.
