HEX Guitars is a brand based in South Korea that specializes in products spanning the entry-level to mid-range price points.

With its own factory in Indonesia, the boss himself resides locally to ensure high-level quality control.

Because the president personally gets involved on-site, rather than relying on other factories, they produce guitars of unexpectedly high quality for their price point.

This is their newly launched headless style series.

The N400L is the simplest model, featuring a hardtail bridge.

True to its “L” designation, this is a left-handed style.

The refined body shape utilizes Mahogany as its material.

Two rubber feet are attached to the body end, allowing the guitar to stand stably without needing a guitar stand.

The neck employs Roasted Maple.

Roasted wood, also known as Thermo wood, is a new material popularized by Japan's Sago new material guitars.

Originally a Finnish technology, it was developed for wood used in saunas.

High-temperature processing evaporates moisture and oils within the wood, giving it high stability even in hot, humid conditions.

Sound-wise, it gives the impression of a more refined, rich tone.

The fingerboard uses Indian Rosewood, finished with a 12-16 inch compound radius.

A compound radius creates a rounder fingerboard shape in the lower positions and a flatter shape in the higher positions.

Generally, a rounder fingerboard radius improves playability but can cause sound blockage in the higher positions.

The compound radius solves this issue.

This technology is adopted by high-end brands like Suhr Guitars and Tom Anderson.

The fret material is stainless steel.

Stainless steel is characterized by its lack of tarnish and high hardness.

Stainless steel frets maintain their shine indefinitely and are extremely resistant to wear, making them popular in high-end guitar brands in recent years.

The neck shape is slim and features a neutral C-shape.

The pickups are humbuckers featuring original ceramic magnets. This aspect was renewed in 2025, introducing a more refined pickup design.

They use original pickups on many models.

This isn't for cost-cutting; it stems from their confidence in the quality of their self-designed pickups.

Staff who understand music and play daily meticulously researched and designed numerous elements like magnets, wire, and bobbins.

Controls include a pickup selector, volume, and tone (with a push-pull switch for coil tap on/off).

The balance when held is excellent. Even players accustomed to Fender or Gibson guitars will likely find the HEX N comfortable to play.

No special headless strings are required; standard guitar strings (like those for Stratocasters or Les Pauls) are compatible.

It delivers the clean, crisp sound characteristic of a headless design, yet retains rich musical harmonics and substantial low end.

The exceptionally high quality of the fundamental neck construction ensures excellent playability. It would be difficult to assert that it falls short when compared to instruments priced around ¥200,000.

Overall, this is an excellent product with high quality in every aspect: looks, playability, and sound.

It's definitely not a bad choice as a first guitar, and certainly worth trying for anyone curious about headless designs.
