HEX Guitars is a South Korea-based brand specializing in entry-level to mid-range guitars.

They own their own factory in Indonesia and manufacture their guitars themselves.

This sets them apart from brands that typically use OEM manufacturing.

Their passion is so strong that the boss himself is involved in the production process, rather than outsourcing to other factories, resulting in guitars of a quality far exceeding what one might expect from the price.

The Q800 is a higher-end model that represents a further evolution from the Q300.

The materials and parts throughout have been significantly upgraded, elevating it to a more professional specification.

This model is manufactured in South Korea.

The body features a semi-hollow construction using Sapele wood, which produces a beautiful grain and a clear, well-defined tone.

The neck uses Indonesian Mahogany, which provides a more acoustic resonance, and is joined with a set-in construction.

Access to the higher positions is smooth, and rich sustain is achieved.

The fingerboard is made of rosewood and equipped with medium jumbo frets for improved playability. The fretboard radius is a very flat 15.7 inches (400mm), boasting modern, high playability that reduces string buzzing during bending.

The use of GROVER® Rotomatic tuning machines is another feature unique to this higher-end model.

The pickups are HEX originals equipped with Alnico magnets.

The combination of a soft, airy neck pickup and a crisp, tight bridge pickup covers a wide range of genres, from pop and jazz to rock.

They use original pickups in many of their models.

This isn't for cost-cutting, but because they have confidence in the quality of their self-designed pickups.

The staff, who understand music and play it regularly, thoroughly research and design many elements such as magnets, wires, and bobbins.

The controls consist of two volume, two tone, and a 3-way toggle switch, but the tone knob also features a push/pull coil-tap function.

This allows for instant switching between a thick, warm humbucker sound and a crisp, single-coil-like tone.

The sound is characterized by its wide range and the rich, airy feel unique to semi-hollow bodies.

From sweet and rich tones perfect for jazz and blues, to cutting techniques utilizing coil tapping, and even rock-oriented drive sounds, it offers an overwhelming variety that comfortably fills any ensemble.

This is a superb product that combines looks, playability, and sound in a way that rivals even more expensive instruments.
