Knaggs Guitars is an American high-end guitar brand founded in 2009 by Joe Knaggs and Peter Wolf.

It is known for being used by many guitarists, including Steve Stevens, Larry Mitchell, Billy Morrison, Tsuyoshi Ima, and Akira (UVERworld).

Based on years of cultivated high-level woodworking techniques and guitar design know-how, Knaggs employs unique body shapes, hardware, and set-neck constructions. While respecting traditional guitar styles, it fuses modern playability with Knaggs' distinctive design philosophy.

For this project, TONIQ directly ordered from Knaggs Guitars and selected several models.

This particular guitar is based on the "Severn," a flagship model from the Chesapeake Series.

The Severn is a representative model of the brand, combining a headstock with a 6-in-line tuner configuration and a double-cutaway design with a set-neck joint and Knaggs' unique hardware.

This custom order features a wood construction reminiscent of modern high-end models, with generously incorporated options such as a wooden pickguard and body purfing, resulting in an exceptionally luxurious specification.

While offering high playability, sound, and a wide range of tonal variations, it fully showcases Knaggs' signature wood selection and beautiful design.

The body top is made of T2 Maple, and the body back is made of Swamp Ash.

The body top has been treated with body purfing, and the combination of Fire and Onyx coloring with a Koa pickguard creates a beautiful harmony between vibrant colors and the texture of the wood.

Furthermore, the hardware is unified in gold, resulting in a luxurious and elegant finish.

The Fire color allows you to appreciate the wood grain of both the Maple top and the Swamp Ash back, offering a unique charm of this particular instrument where you can enjoy the different wood textures on the front and back.

The neck is made of T2 Maple, and the fingerboard is made of East Indian Rosewood.

The beautiful flame grain, characteristic of T2 grade wood, is striking, and the beauty of the wood is clearly felt not only on the body top but also on the neck.

It features a 61 neck shape, 25.5-inch scale, and 8.5-inch fingerboard radius, giving it a somewhat modern playability.

The finish around the neck is superb, with a feel that instantly becomes familiar the moment you place your hand on it.

And one of Knaggs' major characteristics is the set-neck joint.

By carefully joining the body and neck, string vibrations are efficiently transmitted to the body, producing rich harmonics and long sustain.

The neck and middle pickups are Lindy Fralin Blues Specials, and the bridge pickup is a custom-voiced Lollar Imperial K, specially voiced for Knaggs Guitars, in an SSH configuration.

The neck and middle pickups have a bright yet thick and powerful sound, while the bridge pickup has a warm and full sound.

By combining pickups with different characteristics, this guitar offers a wide range of sound shaping, from clean to overdrive.

The bridge features Knaggs' uniquely designed "Chesapeake Tremolo."

Unlike typical knife-edge tremolos, it employs a hinge structure that aims to preserve the guitar's natural resonance while incorporating a tremolo, reflecting Joe Knaggs' design philosophy.

Beyond its sound, its smooth operation is also a major attraction, allowing for a wide range of tremolo techniques, from subtle vibrato to dramatic pitch changes.

Furthermore, the inclusion of locking tuners ensures tuning stability, making it ideal for active use of the tremolo.

This special Severn, a TONIQ order exclusive, condenses the long-cultivated wood selection, woodworking techniques, hardware design, and Joe Knaggs' design philosophy into a single instrument.

Why not take this opportunity to own one?

TONIQ craftsmen will rigorously inspect each instrument before delivery.
