| Kz Guitar Works is a brand based in Zushi City, Kanagawa Prefecture, that manufactures high-quality guitars. They are also known for manufacturing the Brian May signature model guitar for Queen, which has garnered worldwide acclaim. While their Red Special is highly regarded, their original models are also highly praised for their excellent playability and high-quality sound, and are currently used by many renowned guitarists, including Kazumi Watanabe. This model is the flagship Kz One Carved Top. Based on the philosophy of the Red Special, Kz Guitar Works' greatest strength, this is an ambitious creation that fuses modern playability with a wide range of sound variations. This model was exhibited at Sound Messe in OSAKA - OSAKA GUITAR SHOW held in the spring of 2026. The body top and back are made of New Guinea Rosewood. The small double-cut body is finished in a gold color with an ultra-thin top lacquer, resulting in an old-school, understated look. The top features an arched design, giving it a luxurious finish. The body has a semi-hollow construction, making it lightweight despite being made of rosewood, and achieving a rich resonance. The neck is made of Guinea rosewood, and the fingerboard is made of rare Madagascar rosewood. The neck shape is wide and thin, with 24 frets, a compound radius, medium jumbo frets, and a precisely crafted set neck, providing modern and smooth playability at all positions. The frets are finished with high precision, allowing for clear resonance even at the high frets. The meticulous craftsmanship, characteristic of Japanese-made instruments, is evident. The pickups are original KGW T-S pickups. These pickups are modeled after 60s British pickups, and are meticulously crafted with magnetic force measurements identical to those of Brian May's own guitar. The sound is delicate yet grand, faithful to picking nuances, and directly reflects the player's technique. The selector switch is a 5-way switch, and it also features a series-parallel switch, offering a total of 11 rich sound variations. The tuning machines are Gotoh locking type, and the bridge is a stop-tail type. The pleasant, straightforward sound, where you can directly feel the string vibrations, is a unique charm of this instrument.
