Nittono Guitars is a brand of handmade guitars crafted by Japanese luthier Toru Nittono.

It is also known for being favored by numerous big-name artists, including Carlos Santana, Bruce Springsteen, and Robben Ford.

Mr. Nittono’s career began in Japan in the 1970s.

After learning the fundamentals of guitar making and repair at domestic instrument manufacturers and guitar factories, he accepted an invitation from L.A. Guitar Works—with whom he had a partnership—and moved to the United States in the early 1980s.

Since then, he has been engaged in guitar repair and custom guitar building in Los Angeles, working with numerous vintage guitars and instruments belonging to top players.

L.A. Guitar Works, located next to Norm’s Rare Guitars, is a prestigious repair shop that routinely handled rare vintage guitars from the 1950s and 1960s, such as Fender, Gibson, and Martin.

The “repair technician’s perspective” cultivated there forms the core of Mr. Irutono’s guitar-making philosophy.

This “Model T” is based on the classic T-style, yet it reflects the structural rationality and tonal balance that Mr. Irino has derived from his many years of repair experience throughout its design.

It is also an early example, manufactured in 2002 with serial number #07.

The body top features a two-piece Western Maple top supplied by Gibson.

The archtop, finished in a natural finish, is paired with tortoiseshell-pattern binding and hardware, resulting in an elegant, vintage-inspired look that sets it apart from the ruggedness typically associated with the T-style.

The back is crafted from mahogany with a chambered structure, achieving both lightweight construction and a rich, resonant tone.

The neck is made of flamed mahogany, and the fingerboard features rare Madagascar rosewood.

The craftsmanship is exceptionally precise, and it feels so natural in your hands—as if you’ve been playing it for ages—even on your first try.

The pickups include a ThroBak SLE-101 Plus in the neck position and a Seymour Duncan Seth Lover in the bridge position.

The ThroBak SLE-101 Plus in the neck position is a model that reproduces the vintage PAF using the same manufacturing methods as the original. It offers moderate output while delivering a rich midrange and a clear sound image, making it an exceptionally responsive pickup.

The Seth Lover is a model developed jointly by Seth Lover—the inventor of the humbucker—and Seymour Duncan to recreate the vintage PAF.

Featuring specifications inspired by the original PAF, it delivers an open, airy resonance when playing chords and a soft, singing quality when playing single notes.

By combining vintage-style humbuckers—both the neck and bridge pickups—that are PAF-inspired yet possess distinct characters, this guitar is well-suited for a wide range of musical genres.

The bridge features a Wilkinson/Gotoh wrap-around bridge, and the tuners are Gotoh, resulting in a simple yet highly reliable setup.

This instrument reflects Mr. Iruto’s unique philosophy regarding playability, sound, and balance—a philosophy honed through years of experience repairing and building vintage guitars.

It is not only a collector’s piece but also a highly appealing instrument for active use on stage and in the recording studio.

We encourage you to consider this opportunity.

Approximately 80% of the frets remain.
The truss rod is on the stiff side, but it has been confirmed to move through approximately 90 degrees.
The neck is in good condition.
The body and finish show some tarnish on the metal parts, as well as some discoloration on the back of the body and near the endpin; however, aside from some minor scratches overall, it can be considered a beautiful used instrument.

The neck pickup has been replaced with a ThroBak SC E-101 Plus.
