Roasted maple originated as a Finnish technique, and its use in musical instruments was pioneered by the Kansai-based brand Sago.
The wood is treated at high temperatures to evaporate moisture and increase rigidity. Naturally, wood that warps during this process is never used.

The tone is refined, and the playing feel is slightly less brand new, in a good way.
