HEX Guitars is a Korea-based brand specializing in products in the entry- to mid-range price range.
They have their own factory in Indonesia where they manufacture their products themselves, which sets them apart from typical OEM brands.
They don't leave it to other companies' factories; instead, their boss himself is on-site, which is why they're able to produce guitars of a quality unimaginable given the price.
This is their newly launched headless-style series.
The N400 is the simplest model, featuring a hardtail bridge.
The sophisticated body shape is made of mahogany.
Two rubber feet are attached to the end of the body, allowing you to prop the guitar up stably even without a guitar stand.
The neck is made of roasted maple.
Roasted wood, also known as thermo wood, is a new material popularized by Japan's Sago new material guitars.
It was originally developed using Finnish technology as wood for saunas.
High-temperature treatment evaporates the moisture and oils within the wood, providing excellent stability even in hot and humid conditions.
The sound is characterized by a more refined, rich tone.
The fingerboard is made of Indian rosewood and has a 12-16 inch compound radius.
The compound radius is rounded in the lower positions and flatter in the higher positions.
Generally, a rounded fingerboard radius provides good playability, but is prone to choking in the higher positions.
The compound radius solves this problem.
This technology is used by high-end brands such as Suhr Guitars and Tom Anderson.
The frets are made of stainless steel.
Stainless steel is characterized by its anti-tarnish nature and high hardness.
Stainless steel frets maintain their shine and are extremely resistant to wear, making them popular with high-end guitar brands in recent years.
The neck shape is a slim, unassuming C-shape.
The pickups are humbucking pickups with an original ceramic magnet.
They use their original pickups in many of their models.
This is not to cut costs, but because they are confident in the quality of the pickups they design themselves.
Their staff, who know music and play it on a daily basis, have thoroughly researched the magnets, wire, bobbins, and many other elements into their designs.
Controls include a pickup selector, volume, and tone (with a push-pull switch to turn the coil tap on/off).
The balance is excellent in the hand, and even those who normally play Fenders or Gibsons will find the HEX N easy to play.
No special strings for headless guitars are required; the same strings as for regular guitars (Stratocasters and Les Pauls) can be used.
The sound is clear, as you'd expect from a headless guitar, but without losing any musical overtones or rich bass.
The basic quality around the neck is extremely high, making it highly playable, and it's hard to argue that it's inferior to instruments costing around 200,000 yen.
Overall, it's a great product with high quality looks, playability, and sound.
It's definitely a great first guitar, and a great choice for anyone who wants to try out a headless guitar.

As an aside, I met them at the Sound Messe in Osaka in 2024.
The guitars on display were amazing, but I misheard the price as $6,000. As a result, I put the deal on hold, thinking, "The quality is high, but the price is high."
However, I later realized I had misheard and the price was actually $600, so I contacted them immediately. It was only natural, since $6,000 seemed reasonable to me.
A few days later, we met again in Seoul and agreed that GIB and TONIQ would handle the distribution of HEX in the Japanese market.
We had frequent meetings since then, and finally reached the point where we could start selling them.
We've uploaded detailed instructional videos on YouTube, so please check them out.
Stay tuned!
