Fender is undoubtedly the number one brand of electric guitars and basses.
It's beloved by countless top artists, including Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Dave Davies, and Jimmie Vaughan.
The Coronado, released in 1966, was Fender's first hollow-body guitar.
It was designed by former Rickenbacker guitarist Roger Rossmeisl.
Fender, which had already achieved success with solid-body guitars, created this guitar to compete with hollow models from Gibson and Epiphone. However, production of this guitar was discontinued in 1972, making it a legendary instrument known only to those in the know.
This model is a Coronado I Special, produced in the company's first year of production.
The body and neck are made of maple, and the fingerboard is made of rosewood.
Its symmetrical double-cutaway thin-body shape with F-holes, full acoustic construction, and body binding give it a gorgeous look that sets it apart from the standard model.
Despite these specifications, the guitar features a long scale, four-bolt bolt-on joint, and six-tuner pickups, giving it a distinctly Fender feel.
The body finish is a custom Candy Apple Red, with a luxurious matching headstock.
The color has faded over time, changing to an orange hue for a dignified look.
This guitar has also been refretted, and the nut has been replaced, improving playability.
The pickups are Dearmond single-coil.
The sound is brilliant, with the attack of the bolt-on joint, but it also produces a unique tone with the fullness of a full-acoustic guitar.
This rare model has a distinctive and one-of-a-kind sound.
Recommended for collectors and players alike.
Approximately 70% of the frets remain.
The truss rod and neck are in good condition.
The body and finish show signs of age-appropriate wear.
There is occasional weather checking throughout.
The paint has faded and peeled, and there are areas of reaction and melting due to aging.
There is a linear scratch on the side of the body near the jack, a mark that appears to have been filled in on the cutaway side of the body on the 6th string side, a scratch under the pickguard, and a dent near the headstock logo.
The electrical system is in good condition.
The frets, nut, jack, and tuning machines (Shaller) have been replaced.
