HEX Guitars is a South Korea-based brand specializing in entry-level to mid-range guitars.
They own their own factory in Indonesia and manufacture their guitars themselves. This sets them apart from brands that typically use OEM manufacturing.
Their passion is so strong that the boss himself is involved in the production process, resulting in guitars of a quality far exceeding what one might expect from their price point.
This is their newly launched headless style series.
The N600 is a high-end model featuring a custom tremolo bridge, FISHMAN pickups, and a Roasted Maple x Walnut laminated neck.
The refined body shape is crafted from Mahogany.
Two rubber feet are attached to the body end, allowing the guitar to be stably propped up without a guitar stand.
The neck features a 5-piece laminated design of Roasted Maple and Walnut.
Roasted wood, also known as thermowood, is a new material popularized by Sago New Material Guitars in Japan.
Originally developed in Finland as wood for building saunas, it features high stability even in high-temperature and high-humidity environments due to the high-temperature treatment process that evaporates moisture and oils from within the wood.
Sound-wise, it tends to produce a more refined and rich tone.
By laminating several pieces of wood together to form the neck, left-right differences are minimized, resulting in high stability and robustness.
The fretboard is made of Indian rosewood and finished with a 12-16 inch compound radius.
A compound radius fretboard is rounded in the lower positions and flatter in the higher positions.
Generally, a rounded fretboard radius is considered to offer good playability but can easily cause fret buzz in the higher positions.
The compound radius solves this problem.
This technology is used by high-end brands such as Suhr Guitars and Tom Anderson.
The fret material is stainless steel.
Stainless steel is characterized by its lack of tarnishing and high hardness.
Stainless steel frets retain their shine indefinitely and are extremely resistant to wear, making them popular in high-end guitar brands in recent years.
The neck shape is slim and a comfortable C-shape.
The pickups are two FISHMAN Fluence Modern Humbuckers.
These pickups are very expensive, selling for over 40,000 yen each.
They have a special coil-less structure, minimizing the possibility of noise or electrical problems caused by coils.
Therefore, they are incredibly low-noise, and you should feel they are on par with or even superior to EMG pickups.
In terms of sound, they are characterized by surprisingly fast response, moderate compression, and a rich low end.
They have a thick tone from the low frets to the high frets, and in a sense, a fresh harmonic tone that is unusual for active pickups.
This pickup also features a character-switching function called VOICE 1 and VOICE 2.
Pulling up the volume knob activates VOICE 2, resulting in a clearer, more trebly sound on the neck pickup and a slightly warmer, thicker midrange sound on the bridge pickup.
Furthermore, coil tapping is possible by pulling up the tone knob, allowing you to create sounds similar to a Stratocaster or Telecaster.
It's perfect for guitarists who want lower noise than EMG pickups, but with the responsiveness of a passive pickup, and flexible sound shaping.
The balance in your hand is excellent, and even those who usually play Fender or Gibson guitars will likely find the HEX N easy to play.
No special headless strings are required; standard guitar strings (Stratocaster or Les Paul) can be used.
It delivers a clean, headless sound, yet retains musical harmonics and rich bass.
The high quality of the basic neck construction results in excellent playability, making it difficult to say that it's inferior to instruments in the 200,000 yen range.
Overall, it's a superb product with high quality in looks, playability, and sound.
It's a great choice for those who want to try a headless guitar, and it's also a good choice for a first guitar.
All HEX Guitars products sold by GIB are inspected, corrected, and adjusted by GIB after import to Japan.
We guarantee uncompromising quality, so please give it a try.
This product has undergone precise fret leveling using PLEK.
Because all frets are perfectly level, it theoretically produces a stable tone without buzzing.
As this is a show model, there are some minor scratches.
Please understand.
