| Kz Guitar Works is a brand based in Zushi City, Kanagawa Prefecture, that manufactures high-quality guitars. They are also known for manufacturing the Brian May signature model guitar for Queen, which has garnered worldwide acclaim. While the Red Special is highly regarded, the manufacturer's original models are also highly praised for their excellent playability and high-quality sound, and are currently used by many renowned guitarists, including Kazumi Watanabe. This model is the flagship Kz Versa. Based on a traditional double-cutaway design, it's an ambitious creation packed with various innovative ideas. This particular model is a prototype that was exhibited at an event held in the fall of 2025. The body back is made of Big-Leaf Mahogany, and the top is made of Hard Rock Maple. The familiar, traditional double-cutaway design is finished in a metallic blue color, and features a matching headstock and gold hardware for a luxurious finish. The body is chambered, achieving both lightness and rich resonance. The neck is made of Big-Leaf Mahogany. The neck has a satin finish, giving it a smooth feel and excellent glide during position changes. The neck shape is Slim Thin, and the fret size is medium jumbo. The fingerboard is made of Indian rosewood and features a 10"-14" compound radius, providing modern playability. The compound radius has a rounded shape in the lower positions and a flatter shape in the higher positions. Generally, a rounded fingerboard radius is considered to offer good playability, but it can easily cause fret buzz in the higher positions. The compound radius solves this problem. The frets are precisely finished, allowing for clear resonance even in the high frets. The meticulous craftsmanship, characteristic of Japanese-made instruments, is evident. The neck joint uses the "RS-Joint," developed from the Red Special's neck joint structure. This significantly reduces the possibility of center misalignment. Of course, the larger joint area and the increased proportion of the neck wood in the overall structure have acoustic effects. The pickups are Kz Versa Single in the neck and middle positions, and a Kz Versa Humbucker in the bridge position. It features not only the balanced sound typical of high-end Japanese guitars, but also a distinctive sound that shines with the unique character of original pickups. The humbucker can be operated as a single-coil or in parallel output via a mini-switch. Furthermore, it features an onboard "Kz MBB (Mid Booster/Buffer)." This allows for a boost of approximately +12dB centered around 500Hz, or a 500Hz boost plus an additional +3dB centered around 4kHz. The boost level can be freely controlled, making it invaluable when you need it most. The fusion of these elements creates a wide range of sound variations, almost as if you were switching between multiple guitars. It boasts high versatility, making it suitable for any situation. This guitar features a Black Tasq nut, Gotoh locking tuners, and a Wilkinson VG300 bridge, ensuring impeccable hardware. Its refined design, high-quality craftsmanship, exceptional sound, and incredible tonal variations make it truly remarkable. This model is a confident recommendation for anyone seeking a high-end, domestically produced guitar for practical use. Why not take this opportunity to acquire one? This model is a manufacturer's prototype. It has been used in various live settings and has some minor scratches, but there are no issues with playability. Furthermore, it comes with a warranty covering everything except the appearance, so please rest assured. TONIQ craftsmen will rigorously inspect each guitar before delivery.
