| PRS is a new-era standard guitar brand, alongside Fender and Gibson. The beautiful guitars they produce are known to be used by top musicians worldwide, including Carlos Santana, John Mayer, Orianthi Panagaris, Daita, and Pablo. This model is the Silver Sky, a signature model of John Mayer, one of the three greatest guitarists of our time. John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith, the president of PRS Guitars, spent two years researching and developing this guitar. While it features a look based on the traditional double-cutaway guitar, beloved by numerous artists worldwide, it incorporates unique ideas throughout. This model is part of the SE series, which offers high quality through superior quality control while maintaining a lower price point than previous models. The body is made of poplar. It is lightweight and has a well-balanced sound, and is used by many manufacturers as an alternative to alder, a representative wood for electric guitars. The neck is made of maple, and the fingerboard is made of rosewood. Both are traditional woods essential to the history of electric guitars. The neck shape is the 635JM shape. This unique neck shape was developed after meticulous research and numerous tests of vintage guitars from 1963-64, beloved by John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith. The scale length is the traditional 25.5-inch scale. This is slightly longer than PRS's standard 25-inch scale. The headstock is a reverse headstock design based on PRS's unique design. This is a Silver Sky-exclusive design tailored to John Mayer's playing style. The tuners are traditional Kluson-type tuners mounted asymmetrically. The bridge is an original design 2-point tremolo unit. This allows for smooth tremolo arming and minimizes tuning instability when using the arm. At John Mayer's insistence, the bridge is shipped with a flush-mounted setting. While it doesn't support tremolo arm movement, it directly transmits string vibrations to the body, resulting in a tighter sound compared to a floating suspension setup. The pickups are the 635JM "S," exclusive to the SE SILVER SKY. These are SE versions of single-coil pickups modeled after the sound of vintage guitars from 1963-64. Despite being single-coil pickups, they offer a well-balanced sound without excessively harsh high frequencies. It's not that brightness is lost; rather, by cutting unnecessary frequencies, it gives the traditional single-coil sound a more modern and refined feel. The hardware, including the knobs and jack plate, features PRS's unique design. The traditional look with a touch of individuality is also appealing. This is a masterpiece that combines the feel of a vintage guitar with the high playability characteristic of PRS. We can confidently say that it offers quality beyond its price. We highly recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a practical single-coil guitar. The frets have approximately 80% remaining. The truss rod and neck are in good condition. The body and paintwork have some minor scratches overall, which are relatively noticeable due to the black color, but there is no major damage, and it can be considered in excellent condition. The electronics are in good condition. No obvious modifications were observed.
