| PRS is a brand that has established itself as a new standard alongside Fender and Gibson. The beautiful guitars they produce are known to be used by top musicians worldwide, including Carlos Santana, John Mayer, Orianthi Panagaris, Daita, and Pablo. This Silver Sky model is a signature model of John Mayer, one of the three greatest guitarists of our time. John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith, the head of PRS Guitars, directly discussed and researched and developed this model over two years. While the overall look is the traditional double-cutaway design that everyone would imagine, it is packed with PRS's characteristic engineering approach and unique ideas. The body is made of alder, the neck is maple, and the fingerboard is rosewood. All of these are traditional woods essential to the history of electric guitars. The neck shape is a 635JM-R shape. This unique neck shape was developed after meticulous research and numerous tests of vintage guitars from 1963-64, a style deeply cherished by John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith. The fingerboard radius is 7.25 inches, making it closer to Fender guitars and offering a vintage-guitar feel compared to SE models. The scale length is a traditional 25.5 inches. This is slightly longer than PRS's standard 25-inch scale. The headstock is a reverse headstock design based on PRS's unique design. This is a Silver Sky-exclusive design tailored to John Mayer's playing style. The tuning machines are vintage-style Kluson tuners, but the locking type tuners are mounted asymmetrically. The bridge is an original design 6-point tremolo unit. Furthermore, at John Mayer's insistence, the bridge is shipped in a flush-mounted setting. While it doesn't support tremolo arm-up, it allows string vibrations to be directly transmitted to the body, resulting in a tighter sound compared to a floating bridge setting. The pickups are the 635JM, exclusive to the Silver Sky. These are single-coil pickups modeled after the sound of vintage guitars from 1963-64. They possess the brilliance of single-coil pickups while maintaining a well-balanced sound without excessively harsh high frequencies. It's not that the brightness is lost; rather, by cutting unnecessary frequencies, it gives the traditional single-coil sound a more modern and refined feel. The hardware, such as the knobs and jack plate, features PRS's unique design. The traditional look with a touch of individuality is also appealing. Incidentally, it's said that John Mayer himself could purchase this guitar from a store and use it immediately for a live performance even if he forgot his own instrument—that's how high-quality it is. A masterpiece that combines the feel of a vintage guitar with the high playability characteristic of PRS. The frets have approximately 70% remaining. The truss rod is in good condition. The neck has a very slight upward bow, but the string height is 2.0mm on the 6th string side and 1.5mm on the 1st string side, making it playable without any problems. The body and paintwork have minor scratches overall, the metal parts are tarnished, and there are signs of use around the knobs. Some of the markings on the knobs are fading. The electronics are in good condition. No obvious modifications were observed.
